Comment . Update

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I've turned off the ability to post comments anonymously -- I didn't mind at first, but now I've gotten a smidge tired of deleting all of the spam comments!!

After . the . Feast

This year has been a perfectly lovely holiday! We've split our time between Michigan (with my family) and Cleveland (with B.'s family). On Christmas we spent the day opening presents and eating way too much with my parents and my brother/his girlfriend. I hate to think about all of the calories, as we had four kinds of dessert: pumpkin pie, apple pie, carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting, and colorful Christmas cookies!

We also watched a program on Giant Squid, and then opened gifts -- I feel as though I got the best Christmas gifts possibly ever! B. gave me a piece of jewelry I've been lusting over: Jules the Octopus ring from Noir:

And then he and my parents & brother snuck about and got me the wallet I've been wanting for practically forever: a Louis Vuitton Zippy Organizer!!

It's the perfect wallet and also large enough that it can be used as a clutch as well!

Now we're in Cleveland, and we're a bit snowed in! A few inches came in over night, and today is a very blustery day indeed. We had loads of good food since we've been here though, and we've gotten to spend some time with B.'s sister (from New York) who we only get to see once or twice a year.

I hope that everyone else had a lovely holiday and that you'll tell me all about it!!

{ Happy . Holidays }

I'm off for the weekend!! Have a wonderful holiday everyone!!

SATC2

I feel like there's just no way anyone will be able to convince me to see this movie... at least not in the theatre. I REALLY liked SATC as a show. Loved. The first movie... loathe. WAY too much squealing. This newest SATC film looks like more of the same. It's like they forgot what made they show so good in the first place.

... also, Carrie in the desert?? She had to be dragged kicking and screaming to upstate New York!

From . the . Oven

Over the last week or so, B. has decided to embark on a bread-making binge. He and his mother used to bake bread when he was little, and I guess the winter brings out the urge to want to be in the kitchen.

So far he's managed a few loves of basic but hearty white bread, and two days ago we moved on to some yummy wheat bread. He promises that something with walnuts, raisins, and cranberries is coming soon, and I must say that I can't wait!!

What kinds of winter goodies are starting to pop up in your kitchen?

P.S. -- And speaking of food, don't forget to click on The Hunger Site button on the left side of the blog! Just one click each day helps to provide food for those who don't have any!!

Suit

The word "suit" always evokes images of bland pinstripe and stiff fabric, so even though I could wear suits to my job, it's not a look I usually go for. However, after seeing these pics of Rose Byrne and Thandie Newton, it's given me a bit more inspiration and the hope that a suit can look modern and fresh.

Project . Closet . Cleanout

I'm bad at keeping New Year's resolutions -- last year I kept a full "0" of the resolutions I made.

So this year I'm starting early. My one real vice is that I'm shopper. My name is Kristen, and I'm a shopper. So I'm trying to pare down my closet and I'm starting with what takes up the most room: coats. Send me into any kind of clothing store, and I'll find a coat that I like. I have roughly a zillion of them. So I've started project closet clean out by...wait for it...shopping.

Today I ordered one tailored, very pretty, classic, black winter coat from J Crew.

It will go with t-shirts just as well as with pretty little dresses. But this also means that this week I have a full eight vintage coats that will be hitting the Pretty Little World Store. Everything from plaid, to boucle, to shearling will go, so that I can stick to my early resolution! Wish me luck!

Lullaby . and . Goodnight

One of the better parts of going shopping at IKEA is that no matter what you're looking for, you're forced to walk through the children's/nursery section of the store. And absolutely every. single. thing. is unimaginably cute. I don't have children, but the thought of getting to decorate a nursery makes me want to have them. So I thought we'd have a different sort of decorating post today :)

Chloe . Susan

There seem to be a great many things that I don't really like at first. Then, after I can no longer easily find them, I want them. I don't know why this happens, but it almost always happens with shoes. In a year I go from "Eh, I don't really care for those," to "OMG, I need to have those in my closet!!"

Such is the case with what I now think are the most gorgeous Chloe studded boots. I feel like I'm recently seeing them everywhere, even though they came out well over a year ago.

You can still find the occasional pair on eBay, for about $1600.00, which is $400.00 more than they cost brand new from Chloe. Le sigh...
