Sugar . Pop

I don't think I could ever have too much of Lara Stone. Lara = love. Plus, that pink lipstick and those insane leggings/pants in the second photo? Perfection.

This weekend, we got some things done about the house (including the planting of our vegetable garden! This summer we'll have tomatoes, red onions, cucumber, zucchini, and summer squash!), and also had some lazy time. I'm not quite halfway through the first season of Fringe and I'm still not convinced - it's very like the The X-Files, only not as good. We'll see...

Tonight we went out to eat and I had yummy fish tacos with panko breaded tilapia and a citrus slaw - yum! Then for dessert I was quite bad, and had carrot cake ice cream with brownie pieces!!

I hope that everyone's holiday weekend went splendidly!

Have . a . Perfect . Holiday . Weekend

This weekend we'll be spending some time getting the house in order - B.'s mom is coming in June to see the place for the first time, and it would be nice if she could see it somewhat put together.

My brother's birthday is also today, so everyone is getting together over the holiday for a picnic-y dinner (with dessert, of course!).

And I'm going to keep plodding through the first season of Fringe, which I've just rented. I'm not entirely sold on it yet, but I've only seen two episodes, so we'll see...

What is everyone else doing for the holiday? Whatever it is, I hope it's wonderful!!

I need all of these clothes. Leather + Ball Gowns + Mongolian Fur Vests + Sequins = A Happy Me. I especially would like that printed skirt she's wearing under the dress in photo #5 -- it looks really familiar to me too -- does anyone recognize it?

A . Weighty . Matter

Logically, I do get that Hollywood/The Modeling Industry is one world, and everyone else lives somewhere different. However, when I saw that this girl (Alyona Osmanova) was just moved to the plus size division - yes, + size - of her modeling agency, I kind of lost it.

I'm a size 4/6. I'm a vegetarian. I eat mostly healthy stuff, with the occasional bit of ice cream thrown in. I run 4-6 miles a day, five times a week. I'm 5'8" and weigh somewhere between 130-135 (I don't use scales). And I almost constantly feel fat.

It's not because I think I look bad, or even that I feel uncomfortable in my body. But everywhere I look (ahem, movies and magazines), I see tiny skinny people. And then I feel heavy. If I have to ask for a size 6 at the store, I feel embarrassed. Which is ridiculous.

I'm not blaming the media either. It's all of us. We're so focused on the extremes - ultra skinny or obese - that it's difficult to feel comfortable in the middle. It's difficult to feel comfortable at normal. Sometimes I just feel that it shouldn't be so tough to not be so hard on yourself.

Le sigh...

Just . Plain . Lovely

I don't even mind the very garish makeup, as I suspect these are the prettiest braids ever.

Natalia

I sometimes get a pinch tired of seeing Natalia Vodianova in editorials. She's crazy pretty, but maybe not as versatile as some other models today. That said, I love.love.love this photo. The plants, the butterfly wings, her pose - everything about it is kind of wonderful.

Hanging . Chairs

I don't know whether or not these are very comfortable - just mostly that they're quite expensive - but I do know that one of these would make any room look instantly cooler, and I can picture myself sitting in one and reading for like, forever.

Summer . Heat

Considering that it's been near to 90 degrees the last couple of days, this pretty little editorial seemed appropriate! BTW, when I complained that May was a pinch too chilly, I didn't mean that we needed to skip right to crazy heatwave.

Rustic . Kitchen = Love

I love how these kitchen spaces feel both old and modern at the same time. The combination of the woods with the stainless, and then both accented by the lush plants = perfection.

Have . an . Exciting . Weekend

This weekend is going to be crazy exciting, but that's entirely due to the fact that the two and a half hour series finale of Lost is going to be on Sunday, and I can hardly wait!! Other than that I'm just hoping to get a bit of housework (some laundry & gardening) and reading (Henry & June) done.

I hope that everyone else has a lovely weekend!
